Soil :
A diverse composition of soil and topography add complexity and an array of different characteristics to the wine.
Vinification / Maturation :
This wine is blended with young wine to enhance the fresh fruit flavours very evident in this wine. Aged for 6 months in 225L American oak barrels.
This wine :
Appearance : Deep crimson red.
Bouquet : Expressive on the nose. Plum and blackcurrant are the dominant fruit aromas. Cinnamon, spices and a minerality add to the amazing bouquet.
Palate : Luscious berry flavours, notably cherry, dominate the palate, with gentle mocha undertones. The spiciness carries through onto the palate.
Impression :
This wine displays good integration between fruit and wood, and its lingering finish suggests it to be a rewarding wine for drinking and enjoying with food. Rich and expressive, this wine has presence.
Food pairing :
We believe the drinkability of this wine could be enhanced best with poultry or veal. The glorious complexity of flavours of a Cape-Malay chicken curry would be our preference.
